SUMMARY:Tales of a Reluctant World Traveler: Comedy of adventure and self-discovery
DESCRIPTION:How a reluctant traveler turned a round-the-world trip into a comedy novel and solo show.\n\n\n\nSixteen weeks\, four continents\, three bungee jumps\, and I couldn’t come home soon enough. This is the story of how a Boston homebody turned a solo trip around the globe into a comedy novel and a one-man play. Part travelogue\, part theater\, and part off-kilter author talk… \nRandy Ross is a Boston-area writer and storyteller. His fiction\, humor\, and essays have appeared in The Drum\, Black Heart Magazine\, Side B Magazine\, and Calliope\, among others. He is the author of two novels: God Bless Cambodia (The Permanent Press/2017) and The Squid and the Spaceman (Epsilon Books/Oct. 2024). His one-man shows have been featured at more than 30 theater festivals around the U.S.\, Canada\, and the U.K. \nIn 2007\, Ross took a trip around the world and learned to say in three languages: “Speak English?” “Got Pepto-Bismol?” and “Send the evacuation helicopter.” Two of his shows and the novel God Bless Cambodia were inspired by the trip. \nPreviously\, Ross was an executive editor for PC World magazine. He is currently writing a third novel\, and touring his show\,Tales of a Reluctant World Traveler. As a member of Boston’s Fort Point Arts Community\, Ross has produced and hosted live events in Boston’s Seaport. \nLink with more information: \nhttps://randyrossmedia.com/shows-1/ \nWatch a clip here: \nhttps://youtu.be/niajUy3nNRE?si=cxxImbaDtafFWBYv \n“…Randy Ross is laugh-out-loud funny.” Four Stars \n—Winnipeg Free Press (2024 Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival) \n“Absolutely hilarious” “animated story-telling” “a theatrical experience” \n—Utah Theatre Bloggers Association (2020 Great Salt Lake Fringe Theatre Festival) \n“Entertaining” “Sardonic kvetching” \n—Fringe Festival KC (2021 Kansas City Fringe Theatre Festival) \n**Tickets are $20 online and $30 at the door**
